Cartoon Fury
Some people may find cartoon boring, stupid or even childish but i beg to differ, cartoons are the essence of the human character due to globalisation. At a young tender age, cartoons are 'fed' to children to teach them about their later life and values one should have. An example is the popular series called care-bears, it teaches the young to be caring and that they have to work together to defeat the baddies. These shows are so popular to the young such that there was a shortage of their mechanise some time ago. This shows the
HUGE influence on the young.
I still remember vividly that my first ever cartoon was 'The adventures of Winnie the Pooh'. This show basically comprises of characters such as pooh, piglet, tiger, owl, rabbit and many more. The content is made up of pooh having to go through simple triads. An excellant example is the attempt of pooh going to collect honey. I am still remember he would always fail at first but with the help of his fellow friends such as piglet, pooh will later be a happy bear. 'The adventures of Winnie the Pooh' is not restricted to pooh only, at times there will be scene whereby rabbit will face the same old problem that there are people stealing his/her vegetables. This series was a great hit during my younger days.
Later, channel 5 came. I can recall that Spiderman was shown on TV at 6p.m. at that time. I was studying at Huamin Pri(probably pri 1) at that time and i will immediatelly rush back home to watch this show. The MOST irritating thing is that the show Spiderman do not have an ending when channel 5 is concern. In other words, i mean that when Spiderman series was nearly finished, they would restart the ENTIRE series again. Hence, i quit the Spiderman Club after pri 2.
Next, i was made aware that there was anime on Channel 8. It was broadcast from 1pm to 2pm on Channel 8 during 'google.tv' on saturdays. This begin soon after i started my secondary school. I can still remember they show popular anime such as Slam-Dunks, dragon-ball and so on. Other less popular include guliver boy(some german anime), Cooking Master Boy(an excellant show) and so on. The only person left that could remember this is Qing, but his interpretation of the songs were often very different from mine. As a result, i wasn't able to find the opening/ending themes of those series. This is one of the things i regretted the most. Also, I join OPMB-orchid park military band, it's cca operate on wednesdays and saturday and this means that i would be unable to watch those shows. This is another of my greatest regrets. However, i found out that these shows were push to 6am to 7am everyday starting from sec 4. Since school was interferring with me watching, i wasn't able to see those chinese series.
However..
Somewhere in sec 2 came digimon, it was showed during sundays at 9am. Digimon is another series that is great for the young. The story is basically based on 7 children each pocessing power of courage, friendship, love, knowledge, responsibility, hope and something i couldn't remember. These children set out on their journey with their partner digimon would will respone to their powers. With this 7 values, they have to protect the digimon world from evil forces. Each week, a child will be push to his/her limits to bring out the power from them to save themselves. I believe that at the same time, young children sub-consciously will learn these values. This series was then continued to Digimon 2,3 and so on.
BUT I still believe that the first series was the best and the follow-ups are nothing more than crap storyline with digimon.
Around that time, Pokemon was being very popular. I need not say more about this as probably everyone knows about the story of Ash and pikachu setting of to be the best pokemon trainer in the world. However after around series 3, this shows starts to become boring as every week, team rocket will always lose and ash will always win.
After the cartoon fury, i look more closely into animation from Japan. Actually, it was tai-yun(some sec sch guy)who introduce me to my first animation series Evangelion. Until now, i believe i have watch his series even before he introduce it to me. But nevermind that. Next came Naruto and Bleach and Many Many Many Many more..
Naruto was actually quite good at first and it continue for 3 years now. The story is about a boy who has the power of a demon and set off to be the Hokage(most powerful guy in the village). It is hard at first as he is looked as as a demon and no one want to be friend with him. However, the story develops on and now the anime is simply boring. The manga on the other hand has completely different storyline and i feel that it is still great. I am really dissapointed with Naruto.
Bleach on the other hand was all time flying, people who like fighting will be addicted to it immediately. You will know why after you watch and see the manga. I will not offer spoliers for this series as i believe that this series is going to be one of the best anime ever produce.
That is all to my cartoon fury and i must say i have gone a long way to reach this stage in life. I believe that the main purpose of cartoon is to educate young children not to give up and the good will always defeat evil.
PS - I must say again for the sake of the pride of cartoon and anime. THEY ARE NOT CHILDISH OR STUPID. You should give it a try in watching them before you start to act as an grown up and comment them to be stupid or whatever..
