Examinations
What are examinations? To me, examinations are little tests to find out your progress of your daily work. Most people fear examinations are it will mean they have to study hard and not play. In extreme cases, parents often lock up their television and take leave off work to study with their children. This is because parents strongly believe that examination results are a very good indication of the smartness of the child. Also, parents are competitive in nature and like to compare their own child's result with others of the same age. If the child results is better than the other kid, the parent normally would have a smug smile painted on their faces. On the other hand, if their child loses to the other kid, their faces will be blacker then black paint(lol). This will normally lead to the child being send to torturous tuition and 4 strokes of the cane. Hence, most children are afraid of examination as it will mean that their freedom are taken away in either cases. This also contribute to the amazingly high level of stress in Singapore.
However, after 11 years of education, i personally feel that examinations can be fun in your look at it in the correct way. This is very important as it has helped me from being a weak student(in pri sch) to a average student now. The things that i will be mentioning below is strictly not crap as it has seriously helped me and i want to share what little of success formula that i have.
To sum everything up,
Success = T(alent).E(ffort).A(ttitude).This originated from the ex-secondary school principal, Mr Low Eng Kee. Although he may be a pain at times, i feel that his theory is workable. Take for example myself, i have little talent, hence, i have to make it up for the effort and attitude part. I cannot emphasize how strongly your attitude matters. With constand talent and effort, when your attitude increase, success will increase more than proportionally than attitude. This is because you now really put in your heart and soul into what you are doing and this will sub-consciously increase your effort rate.
Besides TEA=S, planning is second most important factor. This is so that you can keep track on what you have studied and can add more time into what you are really weak at. This is also to make sure that you are able to complete the studying on time. If there is no planning, you will be at a lost as you might overstudy a chapter and understudy another. In the end, you will panic as you know that you are not able to finish the whole thing on time. Hence, planning cannot be ignored when it comes to examinations.
To show it works, i will give a real life example of sample results..
J1 (1st Block Test)
Maths - E
Physics - E
Economics - F
J2 (1st Block Test)
Maths - B
Physics - D
Economics - D
By only using this two methods, i am able to improve by a couple of grades. This really works as shown.
PS: You can complain me for hao-lianing my results in the text-box. If only form of vulgarities is NOT found, you will be banned from this site for 1 year.
But on a serious tone, it really works. This is how i done things and hopefully it can help you improve too. If you ever need any help, you can always approach me at any time.
